Dr. Kolnes, a general dentist and general partner at Montague Dental Excellence, brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for dentistry to our practice. A graduate with a BA in marine biology from UC Berkeley, Dr. Kolnes went on to earn his DDS from the University of the Pacific Dental School. Since co-founding Montague Dental Excellence on March 28, 1988, he has been a vital part of its growth and success. He is a member of several prestigious dental organizations, including the Alpha Chapter of the Tau Kappa Omega Dental Honor Society, the California Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Santa Clara County Dental Society. His commitment to professional development is evident in his active participation in continuing education, such as his General Practice Residency at Valley Medical Center in Fresno, CA.
Personal Life
Dr. Kolnes enjoys a lively home life, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where his family educated their twins, Scott, a computer engineer, and Stephanie, a registered nurse. Outside of the office, his hobbies are as varied as his skills—including DIY projects, cooking, entertaining, and engaging in outdoor activities like camping, fishing, and riding motorcycles. His pets, Moose the black Labrador, Chelsea the Australian Cattle Dog, and Boots the short-haired cat, add joy and excitement to his life, with Chelsea and Boots being inseparable companions.
Dr. Nick Khoury
Dr. Nick Khoury, DDS, brings a blend of passion, expertise, and community spirit to his role as dentist and part owner of our practice, which was established in March 1988. Dr. Khoury’s favorite aspects of dentistry are the cosmetic transformations that bring joy and confidence to his patients, particularly through procedures like Invisalign and veneers. He treasures the familial atmosphere of his practice, where humor and mutual support make each day enjoyable and rewarding.

After moving to the U.S. from Amman, Jordan at age nine, Dr. Khoury pursued his higher education at the University of San Francisco for his undergraduate degree, followed by dental training at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. His professional journey is complemented by a robust commitment to continuing education, highlighted by certifications in Invisalign, anxiolysis sedation, and cosmetic crowns/veneers.
Personal Life
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Khoury is deeply rooted in his community as an active member of St. James Church, where he participates in annual fundraising events like the food festival. His personal life is rich with family and sports enthusiasm. Married for 36 years to Lena, who manages the front office, they have three accomplished children: a daughter who is an attorney, a son who followed in his footsteps as a dentist, and their youngest daughter who is a data science engineer with a master’s from UC Berkeley.
